What Causes Pain In The Hips On The Left Side?

Several days ago the upper part of my left hip started hurting when I walk or move. It doesn t hurt when I sit or lay down. The hurt is pretty sharp but not really burning or needles. It doesn t feel like it is necessarily in the joint but maybe above it - perhaps where a muscle or cartilage connect. I have had a hip replacement revision a little over a year ago and walked with canes for a long time, but it seemed that was healed. I don t know what this might be - not related to the surgery as far as I can tell.

Hello,

You can try some ibuprofen and paracetamol for the pain and try to rest or avoid motions that make the pain worse.

If you find no improvement in a week or notice any worsening you will need a visit with your doctor. It can still be a muscular pain (and in this case pain medications and physiotherapy will help) but would be best to have a check.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
