What Causes Pain In The Hips On The Left Side?

Yes. I am 95 years old - in quite good health, despite pain in left side hip area, and down to the knee. Not sure why the areas, except that some years ago broke left hip. I need to use a walker; no pain when sitting, though must ease down on hard surface lest buttock complaint; sleep mostly on right side. Helen Noble email YYYY@YYYY Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should do an X-ray of the hip joint. I think you may have osteoarthritis.

You can use anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or naproxen to reduce inflammation. Oral corticosteroids can be prescribed by your doctor. Also, you can use corticosteroid injections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
