Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Inner Thigh After A Laparoscopic Appendectomy?
Is it normal to feel soreness on right inner thigh and lower abdomen 6 weeks post laparoscopic appendectomy? I m a 29 year old women and have been off of work for 5 weeks. I went back to work this week, which involves some lifting of 15-30 lbs. I m worried that I have caused a hernia by lifting at work.
Hernia is a possible diagnosis if there is pain in the groin area and you have been lifting heavy things. In the case of hernia you might notice a lump that comes out in the groin while you cough or strain and when you stand for a while and then cough. Still the lack of the lump does not rule it out and having an ultrasound is the best way to make sure if you have developed hernia or not.
On the other side there are other possible causes of pain in the lower right abdomen from muscular pain to bowel problems, adherences after surgery and urinary stones, and in females ovarian problems can be a cause as well. The best way to know which is the cause is having a visit with your doctor and possibly an ultrasound or other examinations if needed.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
