Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Knee Joint And Thigh Muscles?
I have significant left knee joint pain (outside and inside of the joint). It is accompanied by muscle pain in both thigh muscles. It is worse at night and it came on rather suddenly a couple of weeks ago. I had started a regimen of Echinacea for my urinary flow. ????
Side-effects of Echinacea can be muscle pain but knee joint pain is commonly due to RA/OA or Gout. Get physically examined & get investigations done (CRP, anti-CCP, ESR or sed rate) to rule RA/OA.
For Gout get blood test(uric acid), X-Ray, Joint fluid test, Blood test, USG done. Get evaluated get treated.
In the meantime take Naproxen or Acetaminophen, one sos when required. You can also use pain relieving ointments or sprays. Do regular exercises, avoid gaining weight. Take low protein diet & cut on the red meat intake.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
