Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have knee pain, shoulder pain and hand pain. My Dr. whom I totally respect and has been my Dr. for many years has prescribed Gabapentin 100 mg starting with 200 mg per day. As I have read some of the uses and side effects it frightens me to take this medication. I do not have seizures, have never had shingles, etc. Is this safe?
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. If your physician has advised you Gabapentin, it means that he suspects your source of pain to be neuropathic in origin. If he has prescribed you Gabapentin I am sure he has considered the risk benefit ratio. Gabapentin doesn't have any major side-effects. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
