Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Knees While Standing And Walking?
Both of my knees are hurting and has been in the last few days. If I sit and have to get up, there s a sharp pain. Once I m up and stay standing, it s okay until I take a step to walk. I had surgery on my right knee in 2007 after falling a couple steps in 2005 so the pain that comes and goes, I am okay with. My left knee is my good knee, but recently it hurts more than my right knee. I have not fallen or have not injured it so I am wondering what is causing for the pain.
As for so long years, the left was okay but the physiology knew that the right has an injury and the whole weight was borne by the left for so many years. So the symptoms you are facing are due to wear and tear.
Do exercises to strengthen the muscles of the knee for the left and right both.
Exercises include - static hamstring, static Quadriceps, ankle toe movements, straight leg raise, abductors, adductors, hip muscle strengthening exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
