Hi,
I understand you've been having some ankle pain while pregnant. Actually
pregnancy does frequently cause changes in the muscles, joints, and ligaments which can cause pain. In your case, because of the location and because the pain goes away when you rotate the ankle, I would suspect ligament laxity, or a loosening of the ligaments, is causing your pain.
This pain usually resolves on its own within months. You could try making sure you wear well-fitting shoes, rest and elevation,
massage, stretching exercises, or foot and ankle baths with warm water.
You can also take
Acetaminophen for pain, and, between 12 and 30 weeks of pregnancy, you can take anti-inflammatory medications like
Ibuprofen. A topical anti-inflammatory like
Diclofenac might work well for you, but I would recommend you talk with your doctor about it first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
