What Causes Pain In The Left Elbow And Below The Rib Cage?
I m trying to figure out what s going on with me. I have pin pointed pain in different areas of my body. My left elbow, the left side of my head just above my ear, the left side just below my rib cage and my neck on the left when I turn my head. This has happened before with muscle strain. I have a script for 4mg Tizanidine. I m going to take one at bed time and see if it helps. No tightness or pain in chest. Breathing ok. Any sugestions?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
Such pain at varied places seems to be due to: • Cervical rib on left side pressing on the nerves supplying to these areas. • Cervical spine or disc problem pressing on nerve supplying in particular position of the body.
X-ray/MRI of neck would help in finding the root cause followed by specific treatment (medicines, local steroid injection, physiotherapy or surgery).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
