Hi Doctor I have pain in my left eye and headache above left eyebrow when moving my left eye to the right upper corner for about three months.no redness or watery eyes. The optometrist told me I have dry eyes, normal intraocular pressure but can not find the reason. And J feel my eyeball like being swollen. Im 62 years old and treated for hypertension well controlled by medication. Thank you for your time
Hello Pain in unilateral eye with associated headache can be due to migraine. Glaucoma have been ruled out as intra ocular pressure is normal. You need to visit physician to ascertain the diagnosis and rule out any other cause by doing MRI /CT brain. -Analgesics like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can be used in acute attack. -Drugs like sumatriptan/rizatriptan are started for mainentanance therapy. But as you are hypertensive patient, alternative drug needs to be given. -During attack, have rest in calm quiet room. -Avoid alcohol, smoke, flashing lights, loud noise which are triggers for migraine attack. -Yoga and meditation will help in destressing yourself. -Keep on follow ups with doctor for hypertension control. Thanks
