Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 65 year old Latina Woman, slightly overweight (20#). I am active doing Zumba and other activities about 3-4 Xs a week. I am long legged and long armed and carry my weight in my middle. My question is twice now I have gotten cramps (hand actually gets claw like) in my left hand up to about my wrist. It is so painful for about 20 minutes. I rub it out and then I open and close my hand for about 20min or so until it ends. My concern is that it is my heart. Why am I getting this hand cramp?

What Causes Pain In The Left Hand?
Hello, As per your history, it may be due to muscle sprain. For pain, you can take tablet acetaminophen. Continue regular physical therapy. In case of not getting relief, you may require MRI hand and nerve conduction studies after consultation. Avoid strenuous activity. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
