Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 48 year old active male. Recently I evidently did something to my left knee while moving in September. My knee gives me pain in the morning when I get up and almost feels like it s hyper-extending when I walk down stairs. What could this be?
Please let me know if you ever fell down or met with any accident or jump from long height? Where do you feel the pain in the knee or whole knee? Because hyperextension occurs when there might be any ligament, meniscii or cartilage injury due to over strain on the knee. And most probably the reason behind your pain may be an injury over knee which leads to hyperextension of the knee.
Its better to investigate it properly and get the MRI to rule out the cause of knee pain and hyperextension of the knee whether there is only ligament injury or involved cartilage damage or other cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ankur
