Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Left Shoulder And Chest After Coronary Stent Placement?
My dad s has a history of an MI about 6 years back, and a stent placement a couple of years ago and most recently, 3 months ago he had another stent placed in. But since then he s been having some left shoulder pain and chest pain and was admitted to the hospital for a possible heart attack. The cardiologist at the hospital did a cath lab and found everything to be okay, and that it wasn t a heart attack. After the cath lab my dad s shoulder pain diminished, but now that about a month s passed since his admission his shoulder pain is back and his cardiologist say that it s not heart related. He also complains a bit of chest pain as well, and the pain is usually exacerbated by extreme temperatures. I would like to know what you think is a possible explanation. Thank you.
If an experienced cardiologist has given you a clean chit then don’t worry but just tell him to refer you to physiotherapy or an orthopedician for the same. It could be arthritis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
