What Causes Pain In The Left Shoulder Blade?

my husband has pain in his upper left shoulder blade area. He was put on a muscle relaxant but the pain still exists and seems to be moving? We have used lidocaine patches and hot baths to soak it. He is still miserable and cannot sleep. What else can we do?

Hi,

You can have muscle strain problem for which you have been prescribed a muscle relaxant. Additionally, I would suggest you take non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs like Brufen or Naproxen. You can continue hot compress and muscle relaxant as well. Avoid strenuous activities and take rest.

If no improvement than consult an orthopedic surgeon for examination and investigate with ultrasonography local part.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
