What Causes Pain In The Left Thigh?

I have been having pain in my left thigh. it started about two months ago. It first was in my thigh mid way from hip to knee on the outside of my leg. and now I feel the pain there and in my upper thigh in front of my leg. and also a sharp pain comes and goes from my buttock to my side and to my foot. If that makes any sense. I feel it mostly when I get up and while walking.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
Your history suggest more of neuralgia.
This occurs due to nerve compression at the hip that is transmitted to legs.
You have not mentioned your age, as this problem occurs at old age as bone mineral density gets lowered and cause compression of nerves.
I would advise to
Consult your physician and get X-ray done to know any bone erosion, If needed MRI may be needed to know the extent of soft tissue damage.
Mild exercise along with physiotherapy would help to reduce the symptom
hope your condition resolves soon.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
