Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am an active, healthy women that just turned 60. I am about 25 pounds over weight, don t eat great and take lots of supplements/vitamins. I started getting pain off an on in both of my thumbs about 6 months ago. But not the pain in my left thumb is constant even becoming difficult to use my hand.
Painful thumb may be caused by medical conditions like arthritis, injury to bone, tendon or ligaments, gout/pseudogout, psoriatic arthritis, De Quervain’s tendinosis. Given the duration of symptoms, I will advise you see the doctor for examination. In the meantime, a pain drug like Aceclofenac and a local pain gel like Voltarene for local application may help control symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
