What Causes Pain In The Leg After A Lower Lumbar Fusion Surgery?

I had a lower lumbar fusion two months ago. On the x-rays after the surgery, it shows one of the screws going into my spine vertically instead of horizontally. My doctor said he didn t think it would cause any problems. I am now experiencing the same pain in my back and right leg. Do you think the mis-aligned screw could be the pain issue?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may be related to the screw mentioned. You may need repeat imaging with MRI to see if the screw or any other area in the back is compressing any nerves.

An xray would not be able to give you information on the nerves.

I hope this helps
