What Causes Pain In The Leg After Microdiscectomy?
I had a microdiscectomy on the 9th of this month. Every time I sit (before and after) surgery, it hurts. Sometimes I get a shooting pain down my left leg. This is my second microdiscectomy in less than two years. Why is this happening and should I be worried about a blood clot?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
After microdiscectomy surgery pain like you have can be while nerves start healing occasional musclespa am may follow during this stage.
One needs to have a healthy lifestyle limit optimum weight &physiotherapy exercises to avoid repeat symptoms &surgeries.
A blood clot causes acute pain in leg with the possibility of deep vein thrombosis. Diagnosed/excluded with 4d, USG of blood vessels of the affected part.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
