What Causes Pain In The Legs And Lower Back Along With Headaches?

Good evening. I am a 38 year old African American female who was diagnosed with Iron deficiency anemia several years ago. I started having frequent bone pain two years ago. I started taking calcium and vitamin D shortly after turning 30. My bones hurt throughout my legs, my lower back, and occasionally my arms. I sometimes have rapid heartbeat, frequent headaches, and recently started having blurred vision, although my vision was reported to be 20/20 several months ago after a visit with my doctor. I frequently feel cold and sometimes I feel very hot and sweaty, as if I m having hot flashes. I am constantly tired and sometimes my body crashes even after getting 8 hours of sleep. What could possibly be the diagnosis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Thank you for reaching out to HCM.

Based on the symptoms you have mentioned, it is possible that you may have migraines. Migraines are seen with dilation of the blood vessels in the head which can cause pain.

Migraines may also show up with tingling, numbness, and some disorientation. Migraines can be triggered by any type of trigger factor like the sun, loud sounds, other pain, or lack of sleep.

Most people find avoiding these trigger factors useful for avoiding migraines. Here are a few things that can help -

Drink more than 2 litres of water in a day
Sleep more than 8 hours a day
Get lots of rest
Have a balanced diet
Take a warm shower
Use an over the counter painkiller when the headache is severe.

I hope this helps you! All the best.
