Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am almost 92 years old. I am having leg pain and difficulty walking. I have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease a few years ago. I wear the compression socks. I live alone and still take care of myself. I have fallen 2 times and my hip hurts, but I use warm compresses and it helps. What can I do to be able to keep walking?
Peripheral artery disease in itself will cause pain of the legs due to low blood supply. It is good that you are using compression stockings to prevent edema. You may also always wear soft, pressure distributing insoles in your footwear, with materials like Plastazote, Silicon, Poron, E.V.A. If required you may consider using a walking stick or a Walker for support during ambulation.
