What Causes Pain In The Legs While Having Lumbar Disc Herniation?
On September 2 I had my lumbar disc 5 removed it was severely herniated it measured 9.3mm. I was advised that I do have 2 more that a very minimally herniated. I sat down a few hours ago I heard a loud pop and now there are shooting pains down my legs and I can t stand again. What should I do
The pain from lumbar disc herniation is related to the pressure the disc causes on the nerves that come out of the side of the spine. This pain is generally shooting in nature and goes down to the legs.
You will need to take ibuprofen, paracetamol/codeine to help with the pain and if you have pain in both legs (or you have numbness in the private area or problems controlling urine or stools) then a visit with the doctor is needed urgently to rule out pressure on the spine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
