What Causes Pain In The Legs While On Zocor?

I have been taking zocor for about 9 months. In the past two to three months my right leg particularly my thigh has begun to cause me pain. It started as a mild tingling but has now become a more burning like sensation. This does not allow me to stand or walk for more than 30 minutes. Is zocor related muscle pain typically symmetrical or can it be isolated?

Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic.

Hi, what you experienced could be the result of using Zocor. Zocor contains simvastatin. Zocor (simvastatin) increases the risk of muscular injury (myopathy) especially if used in high doses or in combination with other medications.

If the pain is very disturbing, you can consult this with your treating doctor to get the same medicine with minimal effect.

To reduce pain you can do both cold/hot compress to the affected area.
Take care.
