Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had leg/ foot pain for 2 1/2 months. It doesn t hurt all the time, but when it does it s a quite debilitating. I hurt my back in January, but the first time I experienced this was early March. My legs and feet ache. When I massage my legs I have many many places that hurt. I thought they were trigger points but I can t seem to work them out. I have been on low dose Lipitor for 6 years. I went off from November-February and now am back on. I have had much muscle pain over the years, but never this leg/foot pain. Usually I can work out the muscle pain. Could Lipitor be causing this? I take 5 mg 5x a week. I am now seeing a Chiropractor. This is also causing me to become depressed because nothing seems to help.
I would explain that your symptoms could be related to Lipitor, although the dose that you are taking is quite low.
Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing further tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation, muscle enzyme levels, blood electrolytes, vitamin D levels for deficiency) in order to investigate for other possible causes.
You should discuss with your doctor about the above tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
