Hello, I am a 24, healthy, normal weight- for the past several months, I have been experiencing pain in my lower left abdomen. Then I didn t have a period for three months (I had fairly regular periods until the end of June, then I didn t have one again until the middle of September). I finally was able to get in to see a doctor. They discussed the possibility of PCOS so they ran a DHEA-S test and then scheduled me for an ultrasound. The results from the DHEA-S blood test was 349ug/dL and the ultrasound results stated that my uterus and ovaries were normal with several small bilateral cysts on the ovaries. From this, my doctor concluded that I do not meet the criteria for PCOS. To me, it seems like the one blood test (especially with the ultrasound showing multiple cysts) is not enough to rule out PCOS. Does this evaluation from my doctor seem to make sense and I am just overthinking things, or is this something I should look into more/request more blood work?
