What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen And Dark Yellow Urination?

Hi, Iam female and my age is 42yrs. I had a pain in my lower abdomen last week and which has now reduced. But the urine continued to be dark yellow so we opted to have do my urine routine test yesterday. The result are: Color - Dark yellow, Appearance - Clear, Reaction - Acidic, urine albumin - trace, Sugar- Nil, Pus cell- 2-3/HPF, R.B.C - 1-2/HPF, Epithelial cells - 2-3/HPF, Crystals- Nil, Bacterial - Absent, Other - Nil. Presently under medication for diabetes: Glycomet 1000mg - one tablet daily (taking for last 2year) and laxative like Lactifiber for consitipation (recently started taking about last 15days and still continuing). My HbA1c is result last month was well within the normal range. But doctor had suggested to continue Glycomet for next 3 month too. Now My doctor is out of town. He will be back by next week. My present queries: 1. Is there any thing to worry or should I go for any other test for concluding. 2. Dark yellow color of urine is it due to Lactifiber which is taken daily during night.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be many things, e.g. dehydration, urinary tract infection, kidney stones, impacted gallstone. The urine tests suggests nothing specific. I suggest you repeat it in a few weeks. The urine should also be sent for cultures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen,
General Surgeon
