Hi. Sorry to hear about ailment. So lets discuss options that may cause in left side of abdomen.
1. Kidney stones. Keeping in view your history of having stones , it is highly likely. In that case pain is severe and mostly recurrent (may disappear for some time to reappear again) untill the resolution of problem (removal of stone).
2. Next is ureteric stone and it is simply a renal stone that has moved from the kidney down in the tube towards urinary bladder. It is one of the most severe pain types and its also recurrent specially causing the pain when stone is struck at anatomical narrowings of ureter.
3. Pyelonephritis and hydronephrosis. It is a condition in which there is accomulation of pus or fluid in/arround kidneys and these conditions more commenly cause a sensation of heaviness rather than pain. A mild to moderate ache may be there along with pronounced symptoms of fever and burning mucturation and some times gross pus in urine (incase of pyelonephritis).
4. Inguinal hernia. It is protrusion of gut in the physiological inguinal canal at the junction of thighs with the trunk on the front aspect. Swelling on the respective side is a pronounces feature of a hernia.
5. Epidydmo-orchitis. Although a less likely event. Pain in this condition is more in testes and testes may be painful to touch. Making it difficult to ride a bicycle or motor bike.
I am hoping that these few lines may help you understand on your own that what is wrong. Now coming to a stetegy, my advice at the moment is to visit a radiologist to get ultrasonography abdomen with testes done. It will give a clear picture of pathalogy and then you may need to visit a respective doctor (urologist, general surgeon) on the basis of findings of ultrasonography. Wishing you best of health.
