What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

For the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing mild pain in the lower left abdominal area. Tylenol does not relieve it. The pain seems to be more moderate now and I am flying from Wisconsin to San Antonio on Sunday, so I am a little concerned.

Short Answer:
Most common inflammation of the colon.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, i read carefully your concerns, and i am going to give you some specific infos and directions.
Pain in the left lower part of the abdomen, may origin from different causes. One of the most often causes is Diverticulitis, which is a condition of inflammation of a part of the colon. I need you to give me some more informations about your health like: do you have fever? Any episode of diarrhea or constipation lately? Also a colon blockage may be present.
Another cause of pain in the lower abdomen might be caused by a problem of the Urinary tract, from presence of kidney stones to urinary tract infections.
Also it might be related to the reproductive system which in women could indicate a problem with the ovaries.
So first thing i would suggest you to do an abdominal ultrasound to check the urinary and reproductive system.
To use a diet rich in fibres which will help your digestive system work better.
If your pain consists or it gets worst i would suggest to talk to your GI doctor, and to lan a Colonoscopy and some lab tests.

Feel free to ask me again.
Best regards!
