What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Right Side?

My cousin has moderate pain on the right side of her lower abdomen. She said it feels a little better when she uses the restroom but she wasn t able to even sleep on her stomach last night. She s out of state, should she go to an urgent care where she is?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

That depends. If she has fever or the pain intensifies, she definitely should. If it is a recurring problem, she should have a scan and possibly a colonoscopy.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
