What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Right Side?

I m 41 year old female. Have lower right abdominal pain past few days. Had it on left side couple months ago but it stopped. Have bit of irregular spotting from time to time. Mirna coil is due out round now. Although think it may be a digestive problem as I been getting heartburn and bit diarrhea.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

Lower abdminal pain on the right side can be due to many reasons - most common are appendicitis, colitis or any gynaecological pathology.

Since you have a Mirna coil in Situ and have experienced irregular spotting I am more inclined to think of a pelvic infection. It is more likely if you also have a smelly or thick discharge and back pain.

Removal of the coil and a course of antibiotics if necessary will help.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
