What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen While Suffering From IBS?

I am a 66 year old man 5,10 and 88 kilos. I have suffered from IBS for some time but have noticed significant changes over the las 3 months. I know have a permanent dull ache at the bottom of my stomach and the base of my back. I continually have gas and when I go to the toilet It seems that I am constipated at first and then the stool is ejected very quickly and is very very long and quite slimy lookin. On occasions it is also quite flat and not rounded as you would expect. Are these the symptoms of anything more severe?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

All the symptoms which you have mentioned points towards to IBS. But considering your age it would be better if you rule out any underlying cause by endoscopic procedure if it is not done previously. If the reports are normal you may be prescribed anti spasmodic drugs like dicyclomine and stool softner for your problems.
