Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Lower Back On The Left Side?
I have an ache in my lower left side towards my back. I ve been dealing with this for several weeks. It is moderate discomfort that seems to come on after standing for a long period of time and goes away after sitting or lying down. It feels like the discomfort I had with kidney stones but it never is intense. Thank you for any insight.
Since your pain is associated with prolonged standing, possibility of lower spine (lumbosacral) related pathology is more likely. Possibility of kidney stone related pain is less likely because this kind of pain are more intense and constant.
So better to consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of lower spine to identify the cause. You may need physiotherapy and weight reduction.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
