General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Acute pain in lower back could be due to muscle strain, disc herniation, and kidney stone/infection. Please be advised to follow-up with a primary care provider to undergo necessary evaluation and confirm the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, apply ice on the area of pain (helpful to relieve muscle tension). You can also take Tylenol (if not allergic for pain). Avoid NSAIDs like Advil until kidney causes of pain have been ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
