What Causes Pain In The Lower Back Radiating Under The Rib Cage?

I think my husband has internal shingles. He has lower back pain, that moves from the back to front just under his rib cage. Feels like prickers or like someone keeps stabbing him. He can t sleep the pain is bad. He has had back problems his whole life, but nothing like this. Our doctor says no it can t be internal shingles because it has gone on to long. But I can t convice our doctor that the front pain hasn t been going on that long. all through it has been 5 to 6 months. I had to take my husband to the ER three times as he just can t deal with the pain. I don t know what else to do. No one should live like this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to internal shingles. I recommend doing a complete blood count and an X-ray to rule out other possible causes.

Meanwhile, I suggest using painkillers to relieve the pain such as Ibuprofen. If it will not be effective, I suggest using prescription painkillers such as Pregabalin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
