What Causes Pain In The Lower Back?

Trying to figure out extreme dibilitating pain (on pain scale 0-10 it is a 91/2) all across the lower back just above butt cleavage and down to both gluteus maximus muscles. I do also have AVN both hips, but that is a different feeling pain. Has caused inability to walk, just a slow painful waddle sometimes. It is a deep stabbing poker-hot pain. Oddly enough the pain across the lower pain is not as painful bending over just when trying to rise erect. (almost like a traction effect) Numerous other medical issues, but do not think they are related in any way. Even know that not all pain is originated at the site of the pain. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the pain may be neuralgia which is nerve related pain. Neuralgia is sometimes described as stabbing in nature.

It may also be burning, sticking, tingling, sharp in nature in some persons.

There are different causes such as: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes
(3)trauma to the nerves eg if they are compressed by the surrounding bones and muscles
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)exposure of toxins
(6)neurological conditions such as stroke and ms

Bloods tests and imaging of lower back would be needed to find the exact cause.
Blood tests may include diabetes screening, screening for liver or kidney disease, vitamin b12 and folate level

I hope this helps
