Hi..my name is Tony..In August of 2011, I went to the emergency room with severe low back pain. A scan showed two large kidney stones & at same time Lymphoma was discovered throughout my upper body Prognosis was 6 mnhd to a year, recvd heavy doses of chemo ABVD,,caused peripheal neruropathy. Have had numerous treatments of Rituximab ever since. Most recent visit with Dr. @ UNM Cancer Center..stated that there is a danger in overuse of Rituximan in that the cancer cells will adjust & it will stop working. Do you ahree & if so where can I expllore clincsl trial results of this happening?
Based on the history you have shared, since you have fought the tragedy for long six years seems that lymphoma might have been in remission or have been slowed down but prolonged use might be needed alongside repeated bone scans and blood counts will be needed.
The use of Rituximab can be associated with chances of infection by suppression of bodies own defense. Slowing of response is a lesser worry than chances of severe infections but risks and benefits should be compared by your primary oncologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
