What Causes Pain In The Lower Back?

I did something to my back this morning - I have pain in the lower right side and pressure on the front. I am thinking one of my disks is jacked up (precise medical term).
I was just sitting down when my two year old sat on my lap and the pain started. I wasn't lifting and had just woke up about 10 minutes before that.
