What Causes Pain In The Lower Buttocks After A Fall?

my husband fell on the corner of a couch arm. And hurt his left butt cheek. It has a softball size lump and bruised from cheek to about half way down his thigh. He cant sit or put any weight on it. This happened a week ago today. He is on blood thinner warfarin daily along with blood pressure meds &pravastatin. Also has a metal heart valve. And is so tired of hospitals. What can I do to help ease his pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If there is a lump in the area of the trauma and he is on warfarin daily, very likely this is due to a hematoma. I understand that he is reluctant to see a doctor, but in this case, it is important for him to have medical attention.

Sometimes hematomas may absorb spontaneously, but other times they may get infected, so drainage may be indicated to prevent this.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician.
