What Causes Pain In The Lower Jaw On The Left Side?

Hello, I quit doing smokeless tobacco a few months ago after doing it on and off for a few years. I recently just dipped after drinking and now I have pain in my lower left jaw by my saliva glands and it's enlarged a little bit. No other symptoms but I do have Gerd and IBS. Is this something I should be concerned with?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It either looks like you have Infection in you submandibular salivary gland or the duct is obstructed due to stone formation in the duct of the gland..
Either of the cause can be a reason for swelling of the gland and discomfort.
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.
If there is Infection then a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen will help in relieving the symptoms..
If it is due to obstruction bin the duct then removal of stones will help in reducing swelling..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
