What Causes Pain In The Lower Right Abdomen Radiating Towards Upper Abdomen?
My 19 year old son had major pain in lower right abdomen. One dr told him he had a hernia. Took him to a surgeon and he said he felt nothing and at that time my son was feeling fine. He said he would order a cat scan but he didn t think it was necessary. This was 2-3 weeks ago. He woke up today with pain in the upper mid abdomen. Do hernias move or change position or could it be something else?

Hi,
You need to consult a general surgeon for an ultrasonography scan abdomen and also an Xray pelvis to rule out any underlying pathology.
A hernia cannot shift from the lower right abdomen to upper mid-abdomen.
If your child is having severe recurrent pain in the right lower abdomen then he needs to be ruled out for common causes like appendicitis.
