Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Middle Of The Back Radiating Toward Ribs?
I have had pain in around T8-9 and radiating along the right corresponding ribs for 3/12, I have not had shingles and am an otherwise well 42yr old female. The pain is fairly constant though with varying intensity, nothing makes it worse, it is better when I massage the area. Any idea of cause / next investigations (bloods are all ok, uses shows small non-shadowing gallstones). Thanks.
As the pain is better on massage, sounds related to muscle or ligament pull or spasm. On the reverse, gall bladder pain would not be relieved by massage and fatty food exacerbate the issue. My guidelines for better recovery: - Local application of heating pad - Use of analgesic spray or ointment containing menthol, camphor with linseed oil - Analgesic medications as diclofenac or ibuprofen after meals if no history of drug sensitivity along with PPI on empty stomach - Avoid spices, non veg, dairy fat and junk foods till recovery
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
