What Causes Pain In The Navel After A Gastric Sleeve Operation?
Hi, my husband had a gastric sleeve operation 6-10 months ago. He s had no problems until last week, when he started experiencing pain (on a scale of 1-10, a 7). The pain is in the belly button area . The pain is constant, like a toothache he says. It lessens when he lies down, and when he doesn t eat. Pain comes back upon sitting or standing, and after eating anything. He s gotten an upper GI, and nothing so far. He s getting a CT scan next week of his abdomen and pelvic area. What could this be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pain around the umbilicus is quite common after laparotomy. Since your scopy is normal there is nothing to worry. Generally it is due nerve compression at the incision site. You can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain. Of pain persist, get a CT scan done to rule out other causes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
