Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had slight pain/ discomfort from my belly button almost like the pain you get when you first get a blister. Well as I was looking at it I noticed a foul smell and some moisture. A little bit later there was some murky fluid with a pink tinge to it and I pulled out a clump of white hair covered in some sort of sticky fluid. Should I have this checked out?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
Infections can happen in the navel area as with any other areas of the skin. Very likely because of the moist and warmth in the area the most likely infection is a fungal infection and trying to wash the area and gently dry it is important. Using an anti-fungal (Miconazole or Clotrimazole) cream twice a day locally will be helpful to clear up the fungal infection.
If you don't notice an improvement withing 2-3 days of starting the treatment or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
