What Causes Pain In The Outer Edge Of The Rib Cage?

I have pain or soreness on the outer edge of my rib cage. It seems to get worse as the day progresses. It does not feel like it is coming from inside the chest, but right on the outer-lower bone of the rib cage. Pain gets a little worse when I press on it.
