What Causes Pain In The Pelvis During Intercourse?

I am 19 years old. I have recently (2 months) been experiencing extreme pain with sex, but only with penetration and after a few minutes doesn t hurt anymore. However after sex it hurts to pee, and hurts in general but more like a throbbing pain which goes away after a few minutes. i noticed it weeks ago but thought id give it time and maybe it would get better but it has just gotten worse, way worse. My period has always been somewhat irregular, it would go through spurts where it was normal and irregular. However the past 3 months it has been extremely irregular, and when i get it its very light and only lasts a day. i noticed I m often bloated and I m not sure why. please help me

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease ( PID) has to be ruled out. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. Consult a gynecologist and plan for an ultrasound scan to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
