hi i have a fatty liver and last three weeks i face problem in urinating, because every time i urinate i feel a little bit pain from my penis. then my doctor advice me to take epimag three times a day to be diluted in water. question is epimag related to my fatty liver? and what epimag will do to my kidney?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Epimag contains 'Magnesium Citrate' as an active ingredient. It works by increasing fluid content in small intestine. It is used for constipation and bowel evacuation before procedures like surgery. Possible side-effects that may occur due to its use include: Fainting, Electrolyte imbalance, Sweating, Abdominal cramps, Bloating and Blood in the stool. It is not related to the cause or aggravation of fatty liver. It does not have effect directly on kidneys, but may relieve your urinary symptoms by smooth evacuation of the bowels and decreasing abdominal pressure on genito-urinary system. Kindly take the medication as prescribed by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
