Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dtr is 7 years old and started complaining of pain in her rectum two nights ago after a bowel mvmt. She reported blood on the toilet paper but had already flushed. She also said it was not a large amount or hard stool. There was no blood the next few times she urinated. However since then she continues to complain of discomfort, even when just urinating, and intermittently has shown me toilet paper with varying amounts of bright red droplets. There has been no evidence of blood in her urine, but I also can t see any possible cause externally. If I can t get a pediatrician appt tomorrow should I head to urgent care?
Hi I have read your question and you need to get your daughter's check up from a specialist as soon as possible. You must head to urgent care in case.
Rectal pain or anal pain which affects the bottom can be due to multiple reasons such as infections, abscesses, anal fissures, haemorrhoids, proctalgia fugas, levator ani syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases i.e. ulcerative colitis, crohn's disease, rectal prolapse, presence of foreign bodies and even cancer.
