What Causes Pain In The Rib Cage While Suffering From Cold?

I have had a severe cold and it has triggered my ashtma. I have acute pain now in my right rib cage, directly under the breast. It is quite extreme upon coughing. Ribs are sore to touch, but the sternum seems not involved. I also feel like I have congestion in my upper lungs. No fever---Blood pressure and Heart rate normal.

Hello
As you said you have viral infection of chest and now you chest pain on deep breathing and coughing.
The symptoms suggest pleural inflamation which is usually responsive to NSAIDS, however I would suggest to Go for X ray chest to role out pneumonia other wise this symptom will go of its own.
