What Causes Pain In The Ribs After An Injury?

Somebody fell on top of me and when they went to get up, they used their knee in my ribcage to get up.. it been a week doc said it s. Contusion of my ribs..The pain had doubled to the point of not being able to hold my arm up to drink a glass of water breathing is almost impossible, and I m feeling a lot of aching in my back along with spasms...Could this be more serious then just bruising?? General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, pain in the ribs after injury indicates an inflammation process, muscle spasm, or rib facture. Pain will be felt when breathing or raise your hand. This happens because of muscle contraction around the injury ribs.

You should visit doctor to take examination such as chest x-ray.

May this answer helps you. Regards.
