What Causes Pain In The Ribs Upon Coughing?

On the right side of my body my ribs in the back started hurting a week ago. Now all my ribs on my right side hurt. It hurts to cough, sneeze, pick things up, etc... they aren t broken. I know what that feels like. It s like I have something stuck up inside my ribs. It s not my gallbladder either, that was taken out years ago. I have a terrible hernia but I am not sure that would be causing this pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to conditions like costochondritis. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
