What Causes Pain In The Ribs While On Propranolol?
I was changed from Lovastatin to Propanolol I am experiencing Rib lpain which goes from no pain to quite bad lpain. It hurts when I twist or certain ways I move my right arm. I am told it is the muscles round the ribs but am wondering if it could be a side effect. I have been taking the medicine about 3 1/2 weeks. Have had the lpain one week. 6 days ago both hands had pins and needles for about 1 hour
It is not related to propranolol. Most probably it will be due to conditions like costochondritis which is nothing but an inflammation of the cartilage of rib.
As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
