What Causes Pain In The Right Big Toe After Extensive Exercise?
i am a extremely healthy and active 62 year pld female. When I work out or hike extensively I have pain in my right big toe. If I rest the do for several days the pain subsides and the minute I start exercising or waliking or hiking extensively the toe hurts.I cannot bend it, nor flex it without pain. If I press on the joint at the base of the big toe it hurts to the touch. If I wear really good aerobic shoes with extra padding under the toe it is better but the pain does not go fully away. what do you think is causing this pain.

What Causes Pain In The Right Big Toe After Extensive Exercise?
Hello, It may be due to muscle sprain. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. Still for further assessment you may require x ray toe, uric acid level after orthopedic surgeon consultation. Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Avoid strenuous activity. Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. Heating pads may help. Use support while walking Hope I have answered your query... Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr Shyam kale Family and general physician
